2-10 Makes Changes to Warranty

Builders who use 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty should be aware that changes have been made to the workmanship/systems and structural limited warranty coverage. To make sure the correct booklets are being issue to consumers, builders should see "HBW 307 05/15/07" in the lower right-hand corner of the warranty booklets. Builders were notified of the changes recently.

Items covered under the one-year workmanship coverage will include nail pops, blisters, or other blemishes visible on finished walls or ceilings. 2-10 HBW decided to include these as deficiencies as long as they are visible within six feet under normal lighting conditions. The builder will be responsible for repair. The only exclusions are depressions or slight mounds at nail heads and nail pops or blisters covered by wallpaper.

Items covered under the two-year systems coverage will include clogged sanitary sewers, fixtures, waste or drain lines. These are considered deficiencies when clogs are caused by the builder's improper construction. The builder is responsible for correcting the problem, unless the homeowner caused the problem or the clog portion of a sewer line extends beyond the property lines.

Changes can be found in most sections of the warranty. Builders should become familiar with the changes for education purposes and to better assist their customers. For more information, please contact your 2-10 HBW representative.
