HBASC Forms Continuing Education Committee
At the urging of the Building Official Association of South Carolina to state elected officials and the Department of Labor, Licensing, and Regulation (LLR), the Home Builders Association of South Carolina (HBASC) recently formed a Continuing Education Committee to explore the possibilities of implementing mandatory continuing education for all licensed residential builders.

Greater Columbia Executive Officer to Lead NAHB's EOC Council
Greater Columbia HBA Executive Officer Earl McLeod has been selected to lead the 2008 NAHB Executive Officers Council (EOC). McLeod will be installed as the 2008 EOC President at the International Builders Show on Tuesday, February 12th at the Orlando Peabody Hotel at noon.

Local Executive Officers Reach Service Milestones
Four local executive officers received services awards from the NAHB recently. Each year, the Executive Officers Council recognizes executive officers who will have completed 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 and beyond years of service in the year to come.

New single-family home sales edged up 1.7 percent in October following a dramatic downward revision to the preliminary estimate for September, the U.S. Commerce Department reported today. October's seasonally adjusted annual rate of 728,000 units was 23.5 percent below a year ago.
