InSinkErator® Brings New Disposer Technology to Home Improvement TV Series THIS OLD HOUSE®

This Old House is about to get revolutionary new food waste disposer technology. The Emmy Award-winning show This Old House began its new season on PBS in October renovating an 1897 Shingle-style home in Newton, Mass. The transformation will include the installation of the new Evolution Series™ generation of food waste disposers from industry leader InSinkErator®, a division of St. Louis-based Emerson Electric Co. (NYSE: EMR).

This Old House plumbing and heating expert Richard Trethewey recently filmed a segment for the show about the development and production of its Evolution Series, the most advanced line of food waste disposers on the market. As part of the This Old House Newton project, the seven-minute segment shot at InSinkErator’s headquarters will showcase a behind-the-scenes look at Evolution’s innovative engineering, manufacturing and unique testing processes. The episode featuring InSinkErator is scheduled to air on PBS on December 27 (check your local listings).

Trethewey toured the factory with Larry Kimball, vice president of operations at InSinkErator, who also was interviewed for the segment.

“It was a pleasure to guide Richard Trethewey through InSinkErator’s facilities, and show him exactly how our products are made from beginning to end, all right here in Racine, Wisconsin,” said Larry Kimball of InSinkErator. “We’re elated that This Old House chose to film a segment from our facility, and are looking forward to seeing it air.”

InSinkErator launched the Evolution Series disposers in September 2006. The innovative line contains five models, each created to meet specific performance needs. The Evolution Excel™ is at the forefront of performance, grinding more food waste than anything currently on the market with at least 60 percent less noise. The Evolution Essential™ is the ideal choice for a wide range of kitchens. The Evolution Compact™ is a perfect fit for restricted cabinetry while the Evolution Cover Control™ runs only when the cover is on. And the Evolution Septic Assist™ is designed for homes with septic systems.

Headquartered in Racine, Wis., InSinkErator, a division of Emerson Electric Co., is the world’s largest manufacturer of food waste disposers and instant hot water dispensers.
