Sistercare Receives Model Home Furniture from KB Home

KB Home’s South Carolina division will donate new furniture from a model home in the Spears Creek Village community in Elgin to Sistercare.

The furniture donation from the Spears Creek model home includes two full bedrooms, a dining room, a couch and two living room chairs andcoffee and end tables. Sistercare will pick up the furniture at 10 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 14, at the model home.

“We’re pleased to be able to strengthen our partnership with Sistercare,” said Jeff Meyer, president of the KB Home South Carolina division. “This is the beginning of our support for the abused women served by Sistercare.” KB Home made a contribution in 2007 to support Sistercare’s annual fundraiser.

“KB Home has been most generous in supporting battered women and their children through their donation of greatly needed furniture. Through the benevolence of KB Home, families leaving our shelters will have new furniture to furnish their homes”, said Nancy Barton, Executive Director of Sistercare.

The furniture donation is available because KB Home is officially closing new sales in Spears Creek Village, 808 Spears Drive, Elgin, S.C. as the division sells the model homes. This step signals the close of construction in a new home community.

In addition to the Columbia region, KB Home South Carolina builds communities in the North Charleston metro region and Bluffton near Hilton Head. The division is headquartered in North Charleston.

Sistercare is a private, nonprofit, United Way partner organization that provides services for battered women and their children residing in Fairfield, Kershaw, Lexington, Newberry, and Richland counties. In 2007 Sistercare served over 5400 victims of domestic violence through emergency shelter, crisis intervention, counseling, legal advocacy and support services.
