Century Builders Announces Ownership Change

Clyde Rector, founder and president of Century Builders, has announced that Don Poynter will assume full ownership of the residential construction and remodeling company effective May 15. Poynter was named Managing Partner last August to oversee building operations and jobsite management.

Poynter’s career experience includes real estate investing, renovations and property management. He moved to Greenville from Winter Park, FL where he owned and managed an apartment complex, and won a beautification award for renovation of the city’s veterinary hospital.

Founded by Rector in 1975 as a new home construction company, Century Builders of Piedmont Inc. turned its focus to home remodeling during the recession of the late 1970’s. Century Builders moved its office to Greenville in 2001 and today is a full-service residential building company specializing in new home construction, whole home remodels, historic renovations and home inspections. One of the company’s most visible projects was renovation of the lower level of the old Harper Brothers building in Greenville’s Historic West End to create Latitude restaurant. The Home Builders Association of Greenville named Century Builders Remodeler of the Year in 1998, and Builder of the Year in 2002.
