Mark Your Calendars! HBASC Membership Conference Set for Next Month

Mark your calendars and plan to attend the HBASC Deal or No Deal Membership Day Conference on September 3 in Columbia (exact location TBD). This one-day conference will feature keynote speaker and Atlanta HBA Executive Officer David Ellis.

The conference isn’t just for local executive officers. We’re inviting ’08 and ’09 local presidents, ’08 and ’09 membership chairpersons, local staff and anyone who serves on local membership committees. Those who RSVP will receive a complimentary lunch.

You’re probably wondering what does an executive officer of 3,600 members have to offer a small association. David Ellis understands what smaller associations goe though because he’s been there. He respects that budgets are different, but that the goal to grow membership is always the same! He will also let you know the three words that are just not part of his vocabulary…'can’t be done'.

Ellis started his executive officer career in Naples, Florida in 1999 with 735 members. Before saying goodbye in 2005, his membership tipped the charts with 1600 members. In his first year as executive officer of the Greater Atlanta HBA, Ellis and his team grew the association membership by 15%. Their membership currently has 3,600 members.

Ellis has been recognized by the NAHB as the best new Executive Officer in the nation, and in 2003, he was honored as NAHB’s Executive Officer of the Year. He serves as Secretary of the NAHB Executive Officers Council. He’s a Board member for HomeAid Atlanta, the Housing Institute, the Livable Communities Coalition, the Atlanta Neighborhood Development Partnership and the Southface Energy Institute.
