Dueling Pianos, Western Theme Big Hit at Spike Party
South Carolina’s Spikes were treated to some down home entertainment during the Denim & Diamonds Spike Party at the 2008 HBASC Convention. While many of the men ‘cowboyed up’ and the ladies showed off their bling, the dueling piano players added some spice to the mix.
Dueling piano players play requests, so a little bit of everything was heard. HBASC President Bill Smith and Executive Director Mark Nix were called onto stage to give their best rendition of Charlie Daniels’ The Devil Went Down to Georgia. If you weren’t singing along to the songs or clapping your hands, you were dancing on stage or on the side.
At the Spike After Party, the children even got involved. They were invited on stage to sing America the Beautiful. Led in by sitters Shannon Daniel and Hilary Bradshaw, the kids started out strong, then their voices quickly lowered and eventually stopped, allowing Allison Skipper, daughter of SCE&G’s Keith Skipper, to finish the song to a standing ovation.
Without our Spikes' support and participation, the Denim & Diamonds Spike Party and the Spike After Party could not have been the hit that is was. Thanks to everyone who came out and enjoyed the party. Thanks to SCE&G for sponsoring the event!
Editor’s Note: All photos of the convention will be posted on our website soon.
