Mungo Companies Makes Commitment to Environment

Mungo Companies, the Carolina’s largest family-owned home builder, is proud to announce its newest green initiative, the creation of the Congaree Creek Mitigation Bank, located in Lexington County. The environmental site is poised to restore the natural surroundings near the wetlands area as well as enhance the area’s overall beauty.

“As builders, we recognize the important balance we must keep between South Carolina’s natural scenery and the state’s rate of growth,” stated Stewart Mungo, CEO of the Mungo Companies. “That is why we felt it was important to create the Congaree Creek Mitigation Bank. This project reaffirms our commitment to the environment as we make a continuous effort to keep South Carolina beautiful.”

The mitigation bank will be closely monitored by the Army Corps of Engineers for the next five to seven years to ensure that the restored area creates a successful ecosystem. Beautification projects like the Congaree Creek Mitigation Bank are nothing foreign to the Mungo Companies. Earlier this year, the company was recognized by the state Senate for its beautification efforts throughout Lexington and Richland counties, particularly for their tree beautification project near the Columbia Metropolitan Airport.
