Even in Down Economy, Community Rallies to Aid Harvest Hope

Mungo Homes is thrilled to report that the second annual Feed Your Neighbor campaign has raised approximately $370,000, with an additional $15,858 in in-kind donations. These contributions include the generous gift of $100,000 from the Mungo family of companies, which was, again this year, offered as a match to donations from the community. The numbers are especially impressive given the tenuous state of the economy and that the campaign officially runs only one month.

Steven Mungo, principal of the Mungo family of companies, said, “With the current state of the economy, we knew that Harvest Hope's demand would be higher this year, but it would also be more difficult for them to raise money. It was more difficult for us to contribute this year too, but we can't let our neighbors be hungry as long as we can find the resources to help. May God smile upon their efforts in this time of need.”

The Feed Your Neighbor campaign was created in 2008 by the Mungo family of companies in response to a critical shortage at the food bank just prior to the holidays. While the campaign officially runs the month of October, donations are encouraged throughout the year and can be made on-line at http://www.harvesthope.org/.
