HBA Members Endure Amazing Race for Charity |

The Home Builders Association of South Carolina donated ten children’s’ bicycles recently to Zest Quest, an Upstate-based organization dedicated to educating and inspiring children and their families to live healthier lives. But, before the bicycles could be handed over to Zest Quest, teams of local HBAs had to race around downtown Greenville collecting bicycle parts with the help of clues during the state convention’s Amazing Race. Much like the CBS show The Amazing Race, HBA teams left the Hyatt with one clue in hand. Once they found the location, they had to buy one item from the store, pick up a bicycle part, and the next clue. The teams raced to six different locations in downtown Greenville, and got the attention of several locals who wondered what was going on. The first team that arrived back to the Hyatt and assembled their bike was named the winner. The HBA of the Greater Pee Dee proved to be competitive and creative. Team members paid a bike taxi to return them to the Hyatt ahead of all the rest. Word on the street is that one Pee Dee team member ended up helping the bike taxi out by pushing it uphill! After a fun day on an adventurous scavenger hunt and assembling children’s’ bikes, Zest Quest and the benefiting children were the real winners.
