Brush Named Aiken HBA Executive Officer; Stowell Retires |

The Home Builders Association of Aiken County ended their search for a new executive officer and hired Mary Ellen Brush, an education administrator from New York State.
Dr. Robert Stowell, former executive officer and retired Superintendent of Schools, stepped aside on March 30th for a well-deserved retirement in Virginia with his wife Eileen. In his farewell to the Board and General Membership, Bob wrote: “The positive experiences I have had in being allowed to serve as your EO over the past six years are beyond measure. The individual members of the Aiken HBA, the fellowship with its hundreds of builders and associates and the open door to meet and interact with leaders from around the state and nation are a major loss to me.” Bob and Mary Ellen began the transition on March 19th, and she’s been busy ever since attending local and state functions and meeting those in the association and in the business community. Although the majority of Mary Ellen’s career has been spent in educational administration, she spent many years as an English teacher. She holds a BA in English, and a Masters of Science in Secondary Education. She most recently served as a district-wide director of curriculum in a highly competitive Long Island school system. Mary Ellen wrote, “As a relative newcomer to this beautiful part of our country, I am deeply gratified and delighted to have been offered this significant role in the Home Builders Association of Aiken County.” The Home Builders Association of South Carolina welcomes Mary Ellen Brush. We know Aiken will be in good hands. However, Bob will be missed. Goodbyes are never easy, but we all understand the pursuit of retirement and relaxation. |
