Myrtle Beach Builders Pitch In on ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition |

A lucky family of four children and their grandmother in Myrtle Beach received a remarkable gift of a new home earlier this year.
On Sunday, March 25th, America gets to see the beautiful home that Harry Dill and Clinch Heyward of Hall Custom Homes and Berkley and Susan White of Classic Home Building & Design built in just seven days on a show called Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. “We look for Builders who are leaders in their community and understand how important it is to give back,” said Diane Korman, Senior Producer for Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. Hall Custom Homes was contacted by the show’s producers. Knowing the magnitude of the project, they enlisted the help of Classic Home Building & Design. That was just the beginning of an effort to recruit hundreds of trade partners, subs, and volunteers. In an interview with the Sun News, Harry Dill said of his and Clinch Heyward’s efforts to recruit volunteers, “Nobody said no. In fact, everybody was falling over themselves to get involved.” Volunteers had to endure cold temperatures and brisk winds, not to mention rain—cold rain. Imagine pulling all-nighters in January with frozen nail guns and compressors. Workers and spectators weren’t the only ones trying to keep warm. Painters had to keep the paint warm with heaters. Dill, Heyward, and the Whites are all active in their community and in the Horry Georgetown HBA. Harry Dill and Berkley White serve on the Association’s Board of Directors, and both are past presidents. Their sense of community kicked in when the builders decided to wave their fees and worked for free during the makeover event. Hall Custom Homes and Classic Home Building & Design opened up their hearts and gave a deserving family the home of their dreams.
