Eston Rodgers, Executive Vice President of the Home Builders Association of Greenville, will retire at the end of April after serving six years as the head of the association’s day-to-day activities.
Rodgers was named executive officer of HBA of Greenville in January 2001 after serving for several years as Director of Professional Development & Technology for the South Carolina Association of Realtors® in Columbia. A native of Greenville and a graduate of Clemson University, Rodgers’ career includes 21 years as a Real Estate Appraiser in Greenville. He also has developed and taught numerous Real Estate classes at Greenville Technical College over the past 20 years. He is a past president of the Greater Greenville Association of Realtors® and was employed as the association’s Education Director. Rodgers brought his passion for continuing education and technology to HBA of Greenville by implementing programs like EarthCraft House builder training, Construction Spanish, the Sales & Marketing Council and many other professional development opportunities. On the technology side, he oversaw development of HBA of Greenville’s website, which received the 2004 Association Excellence Award from the National Association of Home Builders for Best HBA Website among associations nationwide with 500 to 701 members. Also during Rodgers’ tenure, HBA of Greenville and Upstate Forever forged a successful green building partnership with the groundbreaking of Upstate House, which introduced the EarthCraft House green building program in South Carolina. That partnership continues today as the two groups host the Low-Impact Development Series for Upstate builders and developers. Rodgers also has served the Home Builders Association of South Carolina by chairing the state Executive Officer Committee comprised of EO’s from 19 local homebuilders associations around the state. “We very much appreciate Eston’s commitment to the homebuilding industry and his years of service with the Home Builders Association of Greenville,” said Dan Rawls, 2007 president of the Home Builders Association of Greenville. “We wish him the very best in his retirement.” In announcing his retirement, Rodgers urged HBA members to continue their commitment to common sense growth and partnerships that will positively influence development in Greenville County. “Over the past six years, our area has seen tremendous growth and we have experienced – and will continue to experience - the growing pains that come with that economic boon,” Rodgers said. “We have accomplished a great deal together, but there is much more to be done and I encourage our members to continue to be involved in the government affairs, education and community service programs of the HBA of Greenville.” |
