The Convention Committee is making it easier than ever to become a Certified Master Builder by offering a good selection of courses that fall in the business management and technical fields.  Convention attendees will be able to walk away with more than 20 Master Builder education hours. 

“Not only will members be able to get the required 12 hours in the business management field, but they will also be able to get the required eight hours in the technical field,” said Brandie Freeman, director of communications and education at the HBA of South Carolina.  “The requirements can be fulfilled as long as they take the green building course.”

By attending the two-day green building course, members gain eight hours in the business management field and eight hours in the technical field.  Members can complete the remaining two hours in the business management field by taking a one- or two-hour course that fall in the business management field.

“The courses being offered at the convention are not just for those seeking to become a Certified Master Builder.  They’re also for those members who want to improve their knowledge on topics that affect the industry and their professionalism,” said Freeman.

All members are encouraged to attend the convention and to take advantage of the education schedule, which will be finalized soon.  In addition to green building, some of the other course topics include immigration law, construction law, safety, and residential concrete foundations.
