Association Excellence Awards
The first local Association Excellence Awards were awarded at the 2007 HBASC State Convention to local HBAs exhibiting excellence in community service, communications, and other programs and projects that support local home builders, the home building industry, and affordable housing in South Carolina.

Best Parade of Home/Tour of Home Book

Winner - HBA of Greater Columbia
The HBA of Greater Columbia's 2007 Tour of Homes plan book covers new homes and businesses in four counties -- Kershaw, Fairfield, Lexington and Richland.  This year, there were 17 featured communities, 45 participating builder members, and 99 featured homes, including the Scholarship House which benefits the HBA of Greater Columbia's Charitable Foundation.

Best Community Service Project

Winner - Horry Georgetown HBA
Horry Georgetown HBA, Hall Custom Homes, and Classic Home Building & Design found out exactly what it takes to build a new home in a few short days, not to mention what it takes to pull off a television show.  ABC's Extreme Makeover Home Edition and over 250 building professionals endured cold nights, 45-mile an hour winds, and cold rain to give a deserving family a new home. 

Honorable Mention - HBA of Greater Columbia
Greater Columbia members dressed in drag for one night only to raise money for ST. Lawrence Place, a shelter for homeless families.  The HBA of Greater Columbia is planning their second Mr. Strut-Your-Stuff Beauty Pageant.

Honorable Mention - HBA of Aiken County
An Aiken County family's dream of homeownership came true during the Habitat for Humanity's Builder Blitz in which HBA of Aiken County members took time out of their busy schedules to build a home in four days.

Honorable Mention - Hitlon head Area HBA
The Hilton Head Area HBA held its first Tour of Playhouses.  Members built unique playhouses, showed them off, and then raffled and auctioned them off to help the Boys and Girls Club.  The Playhouses ranged from an ice cream stand to a bubble gum machine.

Best Governmental Affairs Program

Winner - Charleston Trident HBA
More than 250 Charleston Trident HBA members and their employees took a stand at the Dorchester County Council meeting earlier this year against a potential moratorium.  This rally was successful because of the HBA and its members, and it proved that strength really does come in numbers.

Best "Other"

Winner - HBA of Greater Pee Dee
HBA of the Greater Pee Dee honored subcontractors by hosting a Subcontractor Appreciation Luncheon for members and non-members.  By reaching out to subcontractors, HBA of Greater Pee Dee was able to boost morale.

Best Non-dues Revenue Project

Under $25,000 - HBA of the Greater Pee Dee
HBA of Greater Pee Dee's Designer Home & Garden Show was developed in 2005 due to a steadily declining Home & Garden Show.  The Show was reworked to create a more comfortable atmosphere for consumers of all ages to see the latest in almost anything related to homes, from landscaping and decking to home building and interior design.

$25,000-$50,000 - HBA of Greater Columbia
HBA of Greater Columbia's Sales and Marketing Council hosts the annual REGAL Awards to celebrate and recognize the best in the makreting and sales of new home construction.  The 2006 gala was the most successful yet in its 18-year history with over 300 entries.

Over $50,000 - HBA of Greenville
The Southern Home & Garden Show is one of the HBA of Greenvile's biggest events.  In 2007, the Show featured 311 exhibitors occupying more than 106,000 square feet.  It provides a venue for the latest products and services for inside and outside the home for both suppliers and consumers, and it generate more members for the HBA of Greenville.

Best Magazine/Newsletter

Winner - Hilton head Area HBA
LowCountry Home magazine is the official magazine publication of the Hilton Head Area HBA.  It's distrubuted to over 45,000 residents and visitors of Hilton Head Island and the surrounding areas of South Carolina's lowcountry.  The magazine features HBA members, residents and visitors.

Best Website

Winner - HBA of Aiken County
HBA of Aiken County created a user-friendly website where members can go to get the information they need.  It also provides a place for consumers to search for builders in their area.  In addition to provding a sense of comfort, the website provides assurance to those who visit.
