Aiken County resident Jessica Harrison and her two sons received their new home after four days of construction. 

Under the leadership of the HBA Habitat House Committee, volunteers worked 16-hour days to complete the home.  The HBA of Aiken County contributed a great deal to the project, including clearing the lot, building materials, and landscaping.   

“By working shifts, from dawn to dusk with speed and quality, over 150 very generous people and businesses jointly made this possible,” said Mary Ellen Brush, HBA of Aiken County executive officer. 

The project was lead by the HBA Habitat House Committee, chaired by Mike Caldwell of Caldwell Design & Construction.  Committee members Herb Witter, Robert Girardeau, J.D. Norris, and Rusty Findley played a huge role in coordinating from building materials to food for the volunteers. 

“They laid out the time schedule, the materials needed, the paperwork and the licensing required,” said Brush.  “We truly lived out the message of our mission statement to “give back to our community” that so generously gives to us!” 

A two-page “thank you” was published in the Aiken Standard to give recognition to those people, businesses, and workers who contributed to this enormous endeavor.
